Why is photography so expensive?
I love authentic moments and natural lighting. I embrace a non-traditional and laid-back photography method. I want to capture the mood, the emotions, the calm and the crazy, and all the details that make you, your family, or your business unique.
I'm based out of Bayfield County in Wisconsin. I provide photography services from the North Shore to the South Shore and all of the beautiful spaces in-between! I am willing to travel outside of my service area for a small travel fee.
At this time I am not accepting wedding requests.
My preferred lighting to photograph in is cloudy/overcast skies or light rain/snow. I love moody weather, it offers the best baseline for my editing style. After that- golden hour (the hour after sunrise and before sunset). I will always avoid mid-day light, as it causes harsh/contrasting shadows.
If you have chosen a full length photo session, consider a quick outfit change and a couple different locations, to ensure some variety in your final gallery.
Do a quick check in the mirror to ensure your teeth, skin, hair, and clothing are free of debris. If you are wearing black or dark clothing, do your best to remove any pet hair or lint. I usually carry a lint brush with me.
Please don't feel offended if I give you a quick once-over upon our meeting, as on-site touch-ups will save me a lot of time in the post-processing.
You will receive an online gallery link, via email, about 2–4 weeks after your session date (timeline is variable), to access your final photos. From your personal gallery you can download photos, share them with friends, family, colleagues and clients, choose your favorites and order prints!
For a 1 hour session, you can expect to receive 50 - 100 fully edited images. I will always choose quality over quantity and the most significant photos to tell your story.
I will send you an invoice for our photo session at the same time that I email your finalized photo gallery. I use a billing service through my website, payments can also be received via credit card, PayPal, Venmo, or cash. If you prefer to pay using cash or Venmo, please let me know before our scheduled appointment and we can work out final price.
On the surface, we spent about an hour together at the photoshoot, but the time that I spend in post-processing is generally 10-14 hours/1 hour session.
I believe in fair pricing for services, and I never want to take anything from you, nor do I want to deny myself fair compensation for my efforts.
There are always exceptions, and pricing is variable according to session conditions, but through my experience I have priced according to my best judgement of the time required to complete a project.
